Who is the course for?

Any Rep who has completed part 1 or the ‘Effective health and safety’ course. This course is focused on how to represent members with their personal cases. From September 2025, it is mandatory for any rep seeking to be a union case handler to have completed Reps 1 & Reps 2 before they can commence any personal case activity.

What will I learn?

  • How to confidently represent members and their personal cases
  • What you can/can’t do in informal/formal meetings
  • Learn more about the laws, policies and agreements that shape union representation.
  • Completion of both Reps part 1 (Key Skills) and Reps part 2 (Handling cases) will accredit you on behalf of the union.
  • Once signed off by your dedicated Negotiation Officer, you’ll receive accreditation letters for you to verify your case handler status.

What attendees say

“Kathryn and Rob are superb, skilled trainers – really knowledgeable, engaging, strong communicators; they without question were a fundamental reason why I enjoyed the course so much.

I would encourage other Reps, if possible, to attend this training in person – the interaction between the group was so much stronger than it would have been online.

In my experience the key components of a good/excellent training course are great trainers, good course content, an engaged cohort of attendees who are willing to share knowledge and experiences/learn, a good venue and great lunch. We had ALL of these key components.”

Michael Langmead – National Lottery branch

“I found this the most practically useful of the courses that I’ve been on with Prospect so far. It was pitched at the right level for me. I liked that it was highly interactive and ensured that I could use the information taught as I found this reassuring. I would very much recommend Reps 2 to others looking to improve their understanding of and confidence in handling cases.”
