Televideo entering administration demonstrates the need for better security for freelancers: Bectu   

Commenting on reports that Sheffield-based Televideo, one of the UK’s larger providers of outside broadcaster facilities, called in administrators this week, Head of Bectu Philippa Childs said: 

“This is an incredibly challenging time for our members impacted by this news and we are doing all we can to support them. Many have reported difficulties with being paid in recent weeks and some are owed a significant proportion of their annual income, which demonstrates once again the precarious nature of freelancing. 

“We are in contact with the administrators and we will keep members informed as further information becomes available. Bectu members seeking support can contact their official. 

“Situations like this make only too clear the need to improve security for the freelance workforce. We encourage anyone working in outside broadcasts to join Bectu to help create a fairer industry for everyone.”
