Prospect sets out priorities for public services members in letter to new minister
Prospect General Secretary, Mike Clancy, has written to the new Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Darren Jones MP, on behalf of our 28,000 members working in the public services sector.
In the letter, Mike welcomed Darren Jones to his role and highlighted priorities for Prospect members including:
- the need for a new partnership framework with unions
- reform of outdated pay guidance that harms recruitment
- greater use of specialist pay frameworks like GDAT
- concerns over unstrategic cuts and mergers in the civil service.
Mike also urged government to use its ongoing review of procurement policy to promote good work and union recognition as part of its industrial strategy.
Mike said this agenda must be delivered quickly in partnership with unions if the government is to meet its ambitions and deliver the change public servants and the wider public want to see.
Prospect will continue to engage with the Cabinet Office to ensure our members’ voices are heard and their specialist skills valued.
