Bectu welcomes further £30M for Welsh Government COVID-19 arts rescue fund
Bectu welcomes the Welsh Government’s announcement today of an initial £30m in further funding for the Cultural Recovery Fund to support the Welsh creative sector at this difficult time.
The Cultural Recovery Fund includes a new grant for freelancers for the new financial year, which we at Bectu particularly welcome.
The Freelancers Fund was the first of its kind in the UK and has provided a total of £18m of grant support to 3,500 freelancers who have been unable to work during the pandemic and will be vital to the Wales’ cultural recovery.
The fund, announced last summer provided over £63m in 2020-21 to support theatres, music venues, heritage sites, events, museums, libraries, galleries, independent cinemas and freelancers.
An eligibility checker to access the grant will be live from midday Wednesday 24 March 2021.
