Bectu secures above average pay deal for members at ITV

20 December 2022

Staff at ITV will receive a 4-6% pay rise after Bectu members voted to accept an offer from the broadcaster. The offer follows pay negotiations that also involved the National Union of Journalists and Unite.

Bectu previously rejected an offer from ITV of a 4% across the board pay increase. In the union’s recent consultative ballot, members voted 78% to accept the improved offer.

The majority of staff will receive a pay increase of either 6% or 5%, implemented from January 2023:

  • A 6% consolidated pay increase for staff earning up to £35,000 full time equivalent salary
A 5% consolidated pay increase for staff earning between £35,000 and £150,000 full time equivalent salary
A 4% consolidated pay increase for staff earning over £150,000 full time equivalent salary

This pay award is above both the current level of median private sector pay increases and the average pay increase in the UK broadcasting sector.

Bectu National Secretary Noel McClean said:

“We’re pleased to have secured this improved offer for our members at a time when many of them are really feeling the pinch.

“Throughout discussions with ITV we remained committed to delivering a decent pay rise for our members, particularly for lower paid staff, who have been hit especially hard by the escalating cost of living crisis.

“Bectu members are critical to ITV’s success and this pay award rightly recognises their contribution. These above average increases are a testament to the hard work of our reps, who remained determined to pursue a better deal for members.”
