Bectu responds to BBC’s announcement about Director General Tim Davies’s leaving date

Head of Bectu Philippa Childs, responding to the BBC’s announcement about Tim Davies’s leaving date, said:

“This announcement gives some welcome clarity around the short-term future for the BBC post Tim Davie’s time as Director General.

“The corporation is at a critical juncture as it faces Charter renewal and questions about its long-term funding in an increasingly competitive environment. The BBC needs long-term stability, and the appointment of a permanent Director General to steer it safely through a crucial period.

“We remain opposed to any strategic decisions being made regarding outsourcing of critical BBC functions while the Charter review process is underway and the search for a new Director General ongoing.”
