Bectu responds to Arts Everywhere Fund: “The Creative Industry Sector Plan must include a focus on jobs”
Responding to today’s announcement of over £270 million of funding for the arts and culture sector, Head of Bectu Philippa Childs said:
“This is welcome investment in a sector that adds so much, economically and culturally, to our social fabric. This government clearly recognises that the arts and culture sector needs sustained support to continue to thrive.
“Bectu members and other creative industry workers are the beating heart of the arts ecosystem, as much as any building or venue.
“The Creative Industry Sector Plan must include a focus on jobs, and we hope this investment will provide some stability for a workforce that continues to battle low pay and precarious employment.
“This is a brilliant boost for the sector and we hope it’s an indication of a long-term commitment to properly invest in the people and places that drive this vital part of our economy.”
