Bectu is supporting members affected by Axis Studios going into administration

17 July 2024

Responding to news that VFX and animations house Axis Studios has gone into administration, Head of Bectu Philippa Childs said:

“This is a very distressing time for everyone employed by Axis, and we are doing all we can to support our members.

“The VFX sector is undoubtedly facing a number of challenges, including ongoing impacts of last year’s US industrial action, that are symptomatic of wider difficulties in the film and TV industry. However, it’s completely unacceptable that people haven’t been paid for work they have undertaken. Many Axis staff are now not only without a job, but have still not received their June paycheck, and many contractors hired by Axis also remain unpaid.

“Workers should not continue to bear the brunt of instability in the sector. Joining a union is one of the best ways to ensure you have a voice at work, particularly during challenging times, and we encourage anyone working in the sector to join and get active in Bectu to help improve the industry for everyone.”
