BBC 2024 Pay Award & Pay Progression ballot result

After a consultative ballot a majority of members voted to accept the offer. The BBC confirmed that pay increases and pay progression will take affect from 1 Augustt 2024.

Overview of the pay award for 2024

  • Across the board minimum increase of 3% to employees (usual caveats for promotees/new starters after 1 April etc apply)
  • Minimum underpin increase of £1,050
  • Maximum Automatic Pay Progression for those in role over 6 months as of 1 April 2024 with the following parameters of the Job Pay Range (JPR):
    • 4.5% for members from 0-33% of their JPR
    • 1% for members in 33% – 50% of their JPR
    • 0.5% for members 50-66% of their JPR (new addition
  • 3% increase to London Weighting, Channel Island Weighting, Night Working Rates and Bank Holiday Payments
  • As previously, a discretionary pot 0.5% of the pay bill available for salary review managers to address pay anomalies etc.
  • All job pay ranges minima and maxima will increase by at least 1%
  • All outliers (individuals paid above their pay range) will receive a non-consolidated, non-pensionable allowance. Partially consolidated increases will be made to anyone for whom a fully consolidated increase would take them above the range with the balance paid as an allowance.
  • Overall investment in pay bill of 4.5% (£45m) 

Automatic Pay Progression

To qualify for Automatic pay progression this year, members will need to have completed their MyConversation by 31 May 2024 and set their job goals for next year. These goals should be based on job descriptions, which show individuals are carrying out roles effectively with the behaviours expected. Those subject to formal capability or disciplinary processes will not be eligible.

Discussions continue around automatic pay progression guidance for 2025.

Band F Pay
