Bectu‘s mentoring programme

Last updated: 15 Aug 2023

“I am proud to say I am currently working as a Production Coordinator for a new Channel 5 series (and it’s all because of my mentor!)” Mentee

“By focusing on developing networking abilities, I heard about an opportunity with It’s My Shout and asked around for a contact person. I have been offered work experience in April on a short feature as a script supervisor” Mentee

As part of its CPD support, the union provides a mentoring program. In operation since 2012, the peer to peer, branch lead schemes each have objectives of recruiting and developing talent. Each scheme approach is tailored and includes:

  • recruitment and training of mentors and mentees,
  • framework of pairing mentors/mentees
  • plus a range of either 1-2-1/group mentoring, workshops and networking events.

Being a mentor enables you to get involved in professional development of others, give back plus also develop your own skills and networking opportunities. Being a mentee means you can collaborate with your mentor to grow your skills, make better decisions, and gain new perspectives on your life and career.
