Zoom guide

Are you interested in joining one of our webinars or just want more info on how to make online meetings work for you? This short guide will explain what a webinar is, what a meeting is and hopefully combat any technical issues you are facing.

What is a webinar

A webinar is like an online seminar. No-one on the call will be able to see or hear you, but you will be able to see and hear the panelists when they speak. If you have a question, pop it in the Q&A box which you’ll find on the bottom panel of your screen.

What is a meeting

A meeting is more interactive than a webinar, you will be able to turn your camera on, and unmute yourself when you want to speak. A meeting is useful when you want everyone to be more involved in the conversation, rather than just watching and listening. You can also use breakout rooms in a meeting.

How to get on a webinar or meeting

On our Prospect Live webinars, you will be asked to register, so just pop in your name and email and you will receive a confirmation email with instructions to join.

In some cases, you will just be provided with a link, which will take you directly into the meeting or webinar. Please note you may be asked to wait in a virtual waiting room until you are admitted, which the host will do so just hold tight. If you are not given a link, you may be given a meeting ID instead which you can type in on zoom.com or on the app which will also allow you to join. You may sometimes need a password to join the meeting which will be provided to you if need be.

When joining a meeting, you will be asked about your camera and microphone preferences, you do not have to turn your camera on if you do not want to but it can be a good idea so everyone can see you. Please try and mute yourself as you join a meeting to avoid any disturbances to people already in there. And remember, on a webinar your camera and microphone will not be used.

What to do if you have difficulties accessing a webinar

If you cannot access a webinar or meeting, this may be an issue with the device or browser you are using. Try using a personal phone or laptop in case you have any restrictions set up on a work device. Download the zoom app or use chrome for the best user experience.
