Write a narrative short in one day with Fenella Greenfield
TBC
Spend an intensively creative day brainstorming, plotting, visualising and writing. Leave with the fledgling screenplay of a narrative Short.
Writing a full-length feature-length script can be daunting. So take some time out to write a Short. Not only is it more likely you’ll get the script finished, you’ll also stand a greater chance of getting it made and seen.
Great Shorts tend to have memorable, idiosyncratic characters, a strong cinematic palette and, above all, a satisfying plot. This is difficult to pull off.
Working alone, in pairs and in groups you will:
- create a cinematic world for your story;
- design clear characters represented with instant visual clues;
- experiment with form and style;
- work on your plot.
Requiring all the writing disciplines and film-making savvy of the feature film, with the extra challenge of conveying an entire narrative arc in a short space of time, when it works the resulting film can be stunning.
As Fenella’s workshops are exercise-based, please come with lots of paper and pens and/or laptops.
