Brabin (pictured), who has been a champion of freelancers and the creative industries since the start of the COVID-19 crisis, will update members about her campaigning work.

Head of Bectu Philippa Childs will also take part in the Zoom session and highlight Bectu’s campaign for freelancers. During lockdown Bectu has run many surveys and consulted with its members about the impact of coronavirus on their industries.

The findings have been shared with the Treasury, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and industry bodies such as the Creative Industries Federation and the BFI taskforce.

The session is one of a number of events that Bectu is organising as lockdown continues. These include bitesize training sessions covering a range of areas such as: finance for freelancers; troubleshooting in costume; how to pitch ideas; and tips for TV researchers.

Philippa Childs said: “We are constantly looking at how we can support our members throughout their careers and during this time of crisis we are evolving to continue this work.

“Our Zoom sessions are a mixture of practical training, specialist information and discussions for experienced professionals, such as the Wednesday Workshops. We are also offering advice and updates about the COVID-19 crisis.”

Members should look out for Bectu Live email updates for details of sessions and how to register. If you are interested in joining Bectu to take advantage of these sessions the easiest way is online or to call our membership department on 0207 346 0900.
