Prospect statement on the attacks in Golders Green

Prospect is appalled by the disgusting anti-Semitic attack in Golders Green, and our thoughts are with those affected and their family and friends.

Our union stands in solidarity with the Jewish community in Britain against hatred and intolerance.

This attack is not an isolated incident, it is the latest in a wave of attacks on Britain’s Jewish community in recent months. These attacks do not exist in a vacuum; they arise out of a climate in which anti-Semitism has been increasingly normalised in political discourse and in the dark corners of the internet.

All of us in UK civil society have a duty to combat this intolerance, to challenge anti-Semitic speech and narratives, and to stand up for our Jewish friends and neighbours. Prospect is committed to combatting all forms of hatred and racism, and to ensuring that our union and the wider trade union movement is free of anti-Semitic hatred and a safe space for Jewish members.
