Bectu responds to publication of CIISA’s Standards
Commenting on the publication of the Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority’s (CIISA) Standards, Head of Bectu Philippa Childs said
“This is a fantastic step forward in meaningfully tackling the creative industries’ bullying and harassment problem. We’re pleased to have been a part of the Standards Advisory Committee and wholeheartedly welcome this important progress.
“The mental and physical health impacts of bullying, harassment and discrimination can be devastating, and Bectu has long been vocal about the need for an independent reporting body like CIISA to improve standards of behaviour across the industry.
“Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected at work. Recent instances and Bectu’s own research have highlighted all too plainly the urgent need for a body such as CIISA, with a huge 9 in 10 creative industry workers agreeing that the sector allows a dynamic where those in power can too easily abuse their status.
“It’s now critical that to ensure the sector continues to back CIISA as it moves to embed the Standards and progress towards becoming fully operational.”
