10 July 2023

Head of Bectu Philippa Childs has recently been granted full membership of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in recognition of her contribution to the industry via her work for Bectu.

Commenting, Childs said:

“I am thrilled to become a BAFTA member and look forward to strengthening our close ties to further advocate for Bectu members and all those working behind the scenes in film and TV.

“Elevating workers’ voices is critical to continuing to develop and improve the UK’s world-class film and TV sector. BAFTA membership is welcome recognition of unions’ pivotal role in ensuring the workforce is seen and heard, and we applaud BAFTA’s commitment to advocating for and supporting those working behind-the-camera.

“Bectu will always champion creative jobs and equal access to the arts and we share BAFTA’s vision for a more inclusive, sustainable industry. I very much look forward to continuing our fruitful relationship.
