This online training is aimed specifically at member/reps in workplaces where Prospect/Bectu isn’t recognised currently.

The aim of this course is to assist activists with their workplace visibility and engagement of new members with a focus to building up to and gaining recognition.

Who is the course for?

Any member/rep who is looking to raise union visibility and ultimately gain recognition in their workplace/area.

The training is best suited when you have 2-3 members/reps in the same area or workplace. Although there is no restriction on numbers joining the sessions.

  • How to talk to people about joining
  • Mapping your workplace and planning activity
  • What recognition means and its benefits

Course sessions

Module 1: Introduction
Introduction, the value of recognition, basic GDPR and having joining conversations.

Module 2: Achieving Recognition
Outlining the code of practice for reps, the process around gaining recognition and the value on setting up a branch and the structure. Digital tools and mapping (if not already completed.)

Module 3: Greenfield Reps 1 completion – this session to be delivered when recognition is close or already achieved and it aligns with the completion of Rep1. Content includes, reps’ rights (ACAS best practice), casework scenarios, how and what you can negotiate on.
