What does the law say about religion or belief equality?

The Equality Act outlaws direct and indirect discrimination, harassment and victimisation on the basis of religion or belief.

According to the Equality and Human Rights Commission, religion has the meaning usually given to it, while belief includes religious and philosophical beliefs, including lack of belief (such as atheism). Generally, a belief should affect your life choices or the way you live for it to be included in the definition.
