Mentoring the Future

Over the past two years, Prospect and Bectu have been successful  in securing funding from the Union Learning Fund to run a mentoring programme for members in the creative, culture and communications sectors in England.

The programme is a peer-led and peer-designed scheme to support the individual goals of union members and offers up to 10 hours of mentoring support over six months.


If you work in a sector that is covered by the programme, you will receive an email inviting you to apply.

Your development goals will need to be in the following area for you to take part:

  • new to the industry
  • returning to your career
  • changing career
  • young member (under 35)

Are you someone who:

  • likes listening to people and supporting them
  • has the ability and the time to attend a few training sessions and two face-to-face meetings with your mentee
  • can demonstrate empathy and the ability to help your mentee define and work towards their development goals.

If this describes you, we would love to hear from you. We offer full training and support. Feedback from our current cadre of mentors shows they found the role rewarding – and it added to and developied their current skillset.
