Members elect new national executive committee

19 May 2020

Prospect and Bectu sector members have elected a new national executive committee and presidential team.

The new NEC’s term will begin today (Tuesday 19 May) – what would have been the close of the union’s 2020 national conference – and last for two years.

The union will also have a new presidential team which was elected unopposed:

Ann Jones will serve as president of the union. Ann is also the president of the Bectu sector executive committee and was elected in 2016.

Ele Wade will be the vice-president. Eleanor works for the Intellectual Property Office as a senior patent examiner. She was first elected to the NEC in 2014.

The deputy vice-president will be Neil Hope-Collins. Neil works for the Health and Safety Executive and was first elected to the NEC in May 2008.

The result would normally have been declared at national conference. But as conference has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the result was communicated to branch, section and sub-section secretaries and Bectu reps via a national circular.
