Bectu Vision short courses support the training needs of freelance film and television practitioners in Scotland, with a focus on scripted production.

We aim to make Scottish film and television workplaces safer, fairer and greener while developing a skilled and supported workforce.

Our training courses are funded by Scottish Union Learning and provided free of charge to freelance film and television practitioners based in Scotland. Places are allocated via an application process with priority for Bectu Members.  Not a member yet? Join today!

  • Risk Management of Productions: Understand why Risk Management is needed in production and learn practical methods of how it should be tackled.
  • Getting to Grips: Information & hands-on experience for Grip Trainees with key pieces of kit including track, tripods, and dollies.
  • Practical Risk Assessment Coaching: Coaching session embedding the principles of Risk Assessment through a mix of practical exercises, discussion, and feedback.

  • Script Editing & Development with John Yorke: Explore the basic elements common to all drama & their application in different genres in this 2-day course.
